**PINE, Colo.** – A seasonal Colorado Parks and Wildlife ranger was stabbed Tuesday morning at Staunton State Park, prompting a large-scale law enforcement response and an ongoing search for the suspect. The ranger was airlifted to a hospital for treatment, and the park has been closed to the public until further notice.

The incident occurred near the park’s Lazy V Trailhead. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office first posted about the situation just before 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, alerting the public to the heavy police presence in the area.

Multiple agencies have joined the search for the suspect, including the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado State Patrol, and police departments from Golden, Arvada, and Lakeside. A regional SWAT team has also been deployed to the area.

Authorities have released a description of the suspect, who is described as a 6-foot-tall white man in his early 30s with brown hair and a clean-shaven face. He was last seen wearing a blank grey shirt and blue jeans.
