A group of young entrepreneurs in Colorado Springs organized a food drive on Friday to assist local families affected by the government shutdown. The effort was led by 10-year-old Gio Bishop-Falu, founder of a business called CEO Squeeze.
The Iris and Rodney Gullatte Foundation supported the children’s initiative. The foundation’s vice president, Iris Gullatte, said she was inspired by Bishop-Falu’s determination to help the community.
Participants in the drive included 11-year-old Anthony Aliaga and 9-year-old Micaela Aliaga. Anthony Aliaga expressed that while he was initially uncertain about the project, he grew excited about the opportunity to aid others. His sister, Micaela, noted that part of their effort involved comparing prices while they shopped for groceries to donate.
The young organizer, Bishop-Falu, communicated that his motivation was to help children who may not have enough to eat. The group purchased food items to contribute to their collection for families in need.
