**PUEBLO WEST, CO** – A multi-agency pursuit that began in Monument with an alleged auto theft concluded in Pueblo West on November 4, when a Monument police detective shot the 25-year-old suspect, Michael R. Trujillo. The chase, which spanned two counties, reportedly escalated after the suspect fired at officers.

The incident began around 3:30 p.m. when authorities were alerted to the theft of a 2025 Chevy Silverado in Monument. A pursuit was initiated, with law enforcement tracking the vehicle as it traveled south on Interstate 25.

Multiple agencies, including the Colorado State Patrol and the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, joined the effort to stop the stolen truck. The chase continued into Pueblo County, eventually leaving the interstate near Exit 108.

The pursuit came to an end in a field in Pueblo West. According to a statement, “State Troopers and Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies followed the truck as it drove into a field northeast of the intersection of N. Purcell Boulevard and Fairbanks Drive, when the truck stalled.”

It was at this location that the confrontation culminated in a Monument police detective firing on Trujillo. The Pueblo West Fire Department also responded to the scene. No further details on the circumstances immediately preceding the shooting have been released.
