### **Colorado Springs’ Jetwing Flats Awarded $1 Million to Expand Local Affordable Housing**

**COLORADO SPRINGS, CO** – Jetwing Flats, a local housing development, has received a $1 million award from the Colorado State Housing Board (SHB) to bolster affordable housing opportunities in Colorado Springs. The funding is a key part of a new $46.5 million statewide investment by the state aimed at creating more accessible and affordable homes for residents across Colorado.

The significant investment, managed by the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) and the Division of Housing (DOH), will support 18 different projects throughout the state. The overarching goal is to expand housing access through a variety of initiatives, including new rental developments, homeownership opportunities, and down-payment assistance programs. State officials project that the total funding will create 275 new homes and provide crucial housing support for more than 700 families.

Governor Jared Polis highlighted the program’s impact on residents, emphasizing the state’s commitment to addressing the housing crisis.

“We are breaking down barriers to housing that Coloradans can afford, and are thrilled to see more homes being built every year,” said Governor Polis. “This funding will create new homes for more than 700 hardworking Colorado families and is an important step forward to making our communities more affordable and saving Coloradans money on housing.”

The $46.5 million fund is being distributed among various organizations and projects dedicated to housing solutions. In addition to the award for Jetwing Flats, other major recipients include a $12 million award to the Impact Development Fund and $7.3 million to Habitat for Humanity of Colorado, Inc. to support their homeownership programs. Further investments include $1.6 million for The Crossing Apartments, $1 million for Southeast Colorado Enterprise Development, Inc., and $864,000 for the Chaffee Housing Trust.

Maria De Cambra, Executive Director of DOLA, spoke to the department’s strategy of fostering stable communities through strategic partnerships and investments.

“Every family in Colorado deserves a place they can afford to call home,” De Cambra stated. “These awards are a testament to our continued commitment to creating housing options that meet the diverse needs of Coloradans. Through strategic investments and collaborative partnerships, DOLA is dedicated to fostering resilient communities where every individual has access to safe, stable, and affordable housing.”

The current status of the Jetwing Flats project and a specific timeline for the use of the funds have not yet been detailed. The state’s initiative also includes eight additional two-year contract awards to further support ongoing housing efforts.
