**Cold Front to Bring Gusty Winds and Mountain Snow to Colorado Springs Before Weekend Warm-Up**
**COLORADO SPRINGS, CO** – Residents of Colorado Springs and the surrounding plains should brace for a significant shift in weather, as a cold front is expected to sweep through the region late Thursday into Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Pueblo. The developing weather system, moving east from the western Rockies, will bring gusty winds to the plains and a chance of snow to the high country.
The primary impact for the Colorado Springs and Pueblo areas will be a noticeable drop in temperature and strong winds. By Friday, high temperatures are forecast to dip into the upper 50s. The early morning chill will be even more pronounced, with actual temperatures hovering near 30°F, while the wind chill will make it feel closer to 20°F.
While the plains will experience wind and cold, the state’s mountain passes are forecast to receive snowfall. Travelers heading into the high country should be prepared for winter driving conditions, particularly over Monarch and La Veta passes.
The blast of cold air is expected to be short-lived. The National Weather Service forecasts a significant warming trend for the holiday weekend, with temperatures in Colorado Springs and Pueblo climbing back into the upper 60s and low 70s by Veterans Day.
