**Headline: Colorado Springs Store Owner Fights Hunger Amid Government Shutdown With Deeply Discounted Groceries**
**COLORADO SPRINGS, CO** β As a government shutdown creates financial uncertainty for many, one local business owner is stepping up to ensure Colorado Springs families don’t go hungry. Jim Krug, owner of My Bargain Mart, is offering deeply discounted food staples to help community members struggling with the shutdown and related issues with SNAP funding.
Krug, a seasoned grocer who recently opened his 12th location here in Colorado Springs, said he was motivated by a simple desire to help his neighbors during a difficult time.
“I want people to be able to take care of their kids and also not go to bed hungry,” Krug stated. “Itβs the worst feeling in the world.”
To turn that sentiment into action, My Bargain Mart has slashed prices on essential items. Shoppers can find basic chickens for just a dollar a pound and beef priced between $2 to $4 a pound. Other deals include bread for 99 cents and condiments starting at 50 cents. The store is also offering a complete Sloppy Joe meal kit, including the mix and buns, for only $2.50.
In addition to the low prices available to all customers, My Bargain Mart provides a 10% discount for seniors and military personnel. The store also accepts SNAP and EBT payments, ensuring that those who rely on food assistance can access the affordable groceries.
