**Suspect Shot by Police After Multi-County Pursuit Ends in Pueblo West**
A 25-year-old suspect was shot and hospitalized following a high-speed pursuit that spanned multiple counties and ended in gunfire in Pueblo West on Saturday, November 4.
Authorities say the incident began around 3:30 p.m. when a 2025 Chevy Silverado was reportedly stolen, prompting a multi-agency response. Law enforcement tracked the stolen vehicle as it traveled south from the area of Exit 108 on Interstate 25. The Colorado State Patrol played a key role in locating the vehicle during the unfolding situation.
As the suspect, identified as Michael R. Trujillo, attempted to evade law enforcement, the pursuit escalated. According to officials, Trujillo allegedly fired shots at officers during the chase, prompting a Monument police detective to return fire. The chase concluded in Pueblo West, where the suspect was ultimately shot by the detective.
Emergency responders from the Pueblo West Fire Department provided immediate medical assistance at the scene. Trujillo was then transported to a local hospital for treatment. His current medical condition has not been publicly disclosed.
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into the shooting. In a statement, Public Information Officer Gayle Perez confirmed that the investigation remains active and that no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
