**Multi-County Chase Ends With Monument Detective Shooting Suspect in Pueblo West**

**PUEBLO WEST, CO** – A police pursuit that began with a reported vehicle theft and spanned two counties ended in an officer-involved shooting on November 4, leaving a 25-year-old suspect hospitalized.

The incident began around 3:30 p.m. following the alleged theft of a 2025 Chevy Silverado. Law enforcement, including the Colorado State Patrol, engaged in a pursuit of the suspect, identified as Michael R. Trujillo.

The chase concluded in Pueblo West near Exit 108 on Interstate 25. According to authorities, Trujillo fired a weapon at officers at the scene. In response, a detective with the Monument Police Department discharged their firearm, striking the suspect.

No law enforcement officers were injured during the confrontation. A weapon was recovered from the scene.

Emergency medical aid was provided to Trujillo by the Pueblo West Fire Department before he was transported to a hospital in Colorado Springs for treatment.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) has taken the lead on the investigation into the shooting. Gayle Perez, a public information officer for the PCSO, confirmed that the investigation is active and ongoing. As of now, no formal charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
