### Teller County Food Drive Raises $45,000, Showcasing Overwhelming Community Generosity
**WOODLAND PARK, CO** – In a powerful display of local unity, a county-wide food drive held this past Friday in Woodland Park successfully raised $45,000 to support local food banks and assist families in need. The event, held outside the local Walmart, saw an outpouring of support from residents, community organizations, and local leaders.
The drive was a collaborative effort involving Teller County Commissioners, first responders, and Walmart store managers, all working together to address food insecurity within the community. The response was immediate and substantial, resulting in a significant boost for area food pantries.
Two major contributions anchored the day’s success. The Teller County Saddle Club made a remarkable donation of $30,000, while the Community Cares Bible College contributed an additional $15,000. Organizers estimate that the funds and food collected will help feed approximately 3,000 people. The economic impact was also felt at the host location, with Walmart reporting that food sales were up nearly 90% during the event.
Commissioner Eric Stone, one of the event organizers, expressed his confidence in the community’s spirit of giving.
“When we put the word out, we knew our community would respond,” Stone said.
The efforts to support local families are set to continue. Organizers have announced that another food drive is already planned for next Friday, which will be held at the City Market. Following the collection efforts, a food distribution event is scheduled for this Monday in Divide at the Little Chapel Food Pantry, ensuring the donations quickly reach those who need them most.
