**Montgomery County Clears Large Homeless Encampment in Harpers Landing Following Resident Complaints**

**HARPERS LANDING, TX** – A large homeless encampment located near the Harpers Landing neighborhood was cleared out by Montgomery County jail inmates this week following complaints from local residents. The cleanup operation, which began Monday and concluded late Tuesday, took place on private property near South Trade Center Boulevard.

The action was initiated after residents alerted officials to the growing encampment, prompting the county to address the situation as a nuisance issue. The cleanup was a coordinated effort involving the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the office of Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Gray.

Keith Lincoln, a Harpers Landing resident, expressed the community’s frustration with the situation. “Harper’s Landing residents aren’t going to put up with this,” Lincoln said. “It’s a huge problem.”

In response to the community’s concerns, the county utilized taxpayer-funded resources to conduct the removal. Inmates from the Montgomery County jail performed the labor under the supervision of the Sheriff’s Office. According to officials, for every three days an inmate works on such projects, one day is taken off their sentence.

The encampment was situated near the Mercedez-Benz of The Woodlands dealership. In a statement, the dealership addressed the situation, stating, “We take these concerns very seriously and want to clarify that we are not permitting the situation you described.”

While the primary action was the physical removal of the encampment, officials also focused on connecting the individuals living there with support services.

“In addition, we have connected them with nonprofit organizations and service providers that specialize in assisting individuals experiencing homelessness,” said Lt. Scott Spencer of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Among the organizations involved in providing assistance was Compassion United.

With the two-day operation now complete, the area has been cleared. The effort highlights the county’s response to resident complaints regarding public safety and nuisance issues on private land.
